Steady growth for Light + Building

24 April 2012 15.00 BST

(Germany) - A total of 196,000 visitors came to see the 2,352 manufacturers exhibiting at this year's Light + Building, which took place in Frankfurt from 15-20 April.

According to figures released by organisers  Messe Frankfurt, attendance was up on the last show, held in 2010, which had 183,111 visitors and 2,154 exhibitors.

A poll of visitors suggested that the ‘digitalisation of lighting and buildings’ and ‘buildings as green power stations’ were the two most important issues for a majority of attendees, whilst 91 percent of visitors and 83 percent of exhibitors said they felt satisfied with the current economic outlook.

After Germany, the ten leading visitor nations at Light+Building 2012 were The Netherlands, Italy, France, Austria, China, Great Britain, Switzerland, Belgium, Sweden and Russia. There was significant growth in numbers from North and South American and Asian countries such as India, South Korea and Japan. The visitor structure remained more or less unchanged with the main groups coming from the installation trade, industry and trade, as well as architects, light planners and engineers.
