Lightfair Moves to Philadelphia for 2011 Show

20 April 2010 11.30 BST

(USA) - The 2011 edition of LIGHTFAIR International (LFI) will be staged in Philadelphia at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, organisers have announced. The move has been prompted by the ongoing renovation of New York’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, LFI’s traditional site.

Every year, LFI alternates betwee New York and Las Vegas. Organisers say the newly renovated and expanded Pennsylvania Convention Center will afford LFI 2011 exhibitors and attendees a venue well-suited to the unique requirements of its Conference and Trade Show, which in the 2009 New York event saw more than 23,000 registered attendees.  The newly expanded Pennsylvania Convention Center, located in the centre of Philadelphia, comprises more than one million square feet of exhibition hall facilities, forming the largest contiguous exhibition space in the Northeast of the country.

According to Jeffrey L. Portman, Sr., president and chief operating officer of LFI managing company AMC, Inc., the renovation and expansion of their traditional New York home, the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, will prove beneficial when the show returns to the city. “The Javits Convention Center renovation is exciting, invigorating and much anticipated,” he said. “Javits has been the preferred East Coast home to Lightfair for many years. Our New York respite will make a future return all the more appealing with the promise of a stunning new Javits environment well positioned to serve LFI’s growing franchise.”
