Lighting shortlist announced for Restaurant and Bar Design Awards

21 April 2010 14.30 BST

(UK) - Best Lighting Scheme to be revealed at cutting edge ceremony in London on 22nd June 2010.

With nearly 400 entries from over 38 countries worldwide, the complete shortlist was selected by a judging panel of the most influential editors in design, hospitality and style - including Paul James, editor of mondo*arc, who had particular interest in the Best Lighting Scheme category.

The Best Lighting Scheme category consists of:

• Nobu, Cape Town, South Africa - Maurice Brill Lighting Design

• Snog, London - Cinimod Studio

• Aqua, London - Glamorous

• The Book Club, London - Shai Akram & Andrew Haythornthwaite

• Galvin La Chapelle, London - Into Lighting

• Sound, Phuket, Thailand - Inverse Lighting Design

Attended by the UK and world's top architectual, interior and lighting designers and their respective hotel, restaurant and bar operators, the event promises to be the most innovative and exciting events in the design and hospitality calendar.

Cinimod Studio has been commissioned to create a system unique to the event. RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology will be employed to identify visitors in certain key spots during the evening's proceedings. The tags use radio signals to send their identity to antenna receivers. Projections will then highlight guests' key characteristics (including names, images, logos etc). The Awards will be the first event that combines this technology to create a uniquely 'connected' environment.
