Light Collective to inspire at The ARC Show

20 February 2012 15.00 GMT

(UK) - UK lighting design duo Sharon Stammers and Martin Lupton to curate mondo*arc's Inspirations gallery at The ARC Show with lighting from Mike Stoane Lighting and Xicato.

The Inspirations series in mondo*arc has been a huge hit, with designers from all over the world submitting their visual creations. So far there have been eleven submissions with work from Australia, Spain, the USA, Germany, Singapore and the UK amongst others. All of the visual borads will be on display at The ARC Show with an introduction by Light Collective.

The Inspirations visuals will be lit in a gallery environment by Mike Stoane Lighting's latest LED spotlights, Track Type X, using Xicato modules. The Type X fittings were recently specified by Gavin Fraser of FOTO-MA at the Scottish National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh and was covered in in the Feb/Mar issue of mondo*arc.

Sharon Stammers of Light Collective commented, “The opportunity to ask our friends and colleagues to share their inspirations with us in mondo*arc has been inspiring in itself. It isn't just an opportunity to pass on what are the things that motivate great work but also the chance to show them in a stunningly visual way. We think sharing in general is important and sharing inspiration in this amazing and colourful universe needs to be encouraged. If you always flick over the last page in mondo*arc without really seeing what it's about, here's a chance to revisit all the Inspirations back pages in a gallery format and discover the multitude of glorious things that inspire those of us that work with light.”

Paul James, editor of mondo*arc, commented, “I am thrilled that we will get the opportunity to show the Inspirations gallery at The ARC Show. It's taken a lot of planning but we got there in the end. The Inspirations back pages in mondo*arc sums up the creative process behind lighting design. Whilst legislation, regulation and energy efficiency is very important, it is creativity that is the lifeblood of the lighting design profession. Sometimes I think we get bogged down with number crunching. This gallery highlights pure, unadulterated design.”

The Inspirations gallery is situated at mondo*arc's stand (M43) at The ARC Show, Business Design Centre, Islington, London. A drinks reception will take place from 6 - 9pm on February 29th. Visitors must be registered for The ARC Show to gain entry.
