GKD founds subsidiary in India

11 April 2012 12.00 BST

(India) - Architectural mesh manufacturer GKD has established a new subsidiary in Jaipur India.

GKD India Ltd., founded as a joint venture with the Indian weave manufacturer WMW Metal Fabrics, covers all four business areas of the German parent company: filter media, process belts, architectural and design meshes, and systems technology for defined markets in solid-liquid filtration. GKD has a majority holding in the Indian joint venture.

With its own factory in the three-million inhabitant metropolis some 250 kilometres south-west of Delhi, GKD is following its customers to the subcontinent. "We noticed that our customers in the automotive and filtration industries were moving their production sites to India, where they expect the same level of support as they receive in Europe", explains GKD Board Member Dr. Stephan Kufferath.

Jaipur already has a strong reputation as an Indian manufacturing hub for the automotive, mining, chemical, electronics, metal and textile sectors

GKD has been active in the Indian market for five years, but with the opening of the new Jaipur facility, the company aims to offer the full service range of a full production unit rather than just regional sales and distribution.

In addition to its headquarters in Düren, Germany, the company also has six production sites in the USA, England, Spain, France, South Africa and China, subsidiaries in Dubai and Qatar, and agencies all over the world
