(UK) - LED and Cold Cathode specialist wins Queen's Award for Enterprise in International Trade 2012 as new Board of Directors is created.

acdc, a specialist in architectural LED and Cold Cathode lighting solutions, has been named as a winner of the UK's most prestigious award for business performance - the Queen's Award for Enterprise in International Trade 2012. The UK company won the award for the first time for their outstanding achievement in overseas earnings recording an overall growth of 90% over a three year period.

This has been achieved with over 3000 projects delivered each year to key export markets including Europe, USA, Australia, Far East, Middle East and India from their Lancashire HQ. These have included some of the world's most prestigious projects including the Burj Khalifa, the worlds' tallest tower in Dubai; the Burj Al Arab, the worlds' most luxurious hotel, also in Dubai; Bitexco Tower, the largest building towering over Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam at an impressive 68 storeys high; Marina Bay Sands, a world-class luxury casino and hotel complex in Singapore; and most recently the Olympics Bridges in London.

Commenting on the award, acdc's CEO, Gareth Frankland said, “To be awarded this prestigious award for our outstanding achievements in international trade is something we are all very proud of. This puts us amongst the most successful of UK businesses. The dedication of all our employees in ensuring we continue to meet our aim of producing the most innovative and industry leading lighting solutions available is recognised with this award from the Queen and we look forward to an even brighter success in the future."

Sales Director Louise Frankland commented: “At acdc our focus is on offering outstanding products and a level of customer service that is second to none - our teams in the UK and overseas deliver this as standard. So to have our international success recognised and affirmed by the Queen with this prestigious accolade is a huge privilege and honour.”

It was also announced that Dan Hodgson and Alistair Toward have become Directors of the company, joing Gareth and Louise Frankland and Finance Director Ian Clark on the board. Hodgson, who joined acdc from BDP in 2011, has been promoted to the position of Design Director. This move reflects both his outstanding work to date and his inspiring vision for the future of technology at the company.

Toward is acdc's new Head of Operations implementing some of his military precision gained from his previous role at BAE Systems to the operations divisions at acdc.

Gareth Frankland commented: “With Alistair and Dan joining Louise, Ian and myself on the board, I feel that acdc now combine the energy, drive and broad experience that will enable us to deliver the company's ambitious vision for the future.”
