24 May 2013 10.00 BST

(UK) - Urbis Lighting changes name and moves home to further strengthen ties with parent company, Schréder Group.

In April 2013 the Urbis team moved into their brand new premises in Chineham, Basingstoke, continuing the company’s 25 year presence in the area.

The new premises are owned outright by Urbis and will provide UK customers with the opportunity to visit the new showroom to view Urbis’ range of functional, decorative and architectural lighting solutions in action. It will also improve customers' lighting knowledge by using the new training facilities, which will primarily be used to deliver Urbis’ seminars as well as learning about the work undertaken in Urbis’ new Research and Development facility, which will predominantly focus on new lighting photometry development and innovation testing to ensure products perform to the highest possible standards.

Being based at the new offices provides Urbis’ team of lighting experts with access to the latest technical testing facilities to develop exterior lighting products that offer customers a high optical performance with low energy consumption, at an affordable price.

The manufacturing of Urbis’ decorative range of luminaires remains at the old Houndmills site in Basingstoke, with the new office dedicated solely to providing customers with the best possible technical, operational and service support.

Ian Pratt, Urbis’ Managing Director, commented, “In response to customer demand, we are also expanding our range of architectural and floodlighting solutions with a particular focus on LEDs. At the heart of this new offering is a commitment to provide lighting solutions that help deliver an attractive, secure built environment for communities, whilst minimising energy consumption.”

On the 5th April 2013 Urbis Lighting became known as Urbis Schréder. This further strengthens ties with the parent company, Schréder Group, which operates across 44 countries worldwide.

As part of the Schréder Group, Urbis customers in the UK can take full advantage of a wide range of high performance LED and HID exterior lighting products providing the optimal solution for street lighting, transport, architectural and floodlighting schemes as well as a new generation of monitoring and remote management services to help reduce life time costs and energy consumption.

Pratt concluded, “The aim of these changes is to help customers make informed choices by offering practical advice and a wide range of high quality lighting solutions that will enable them to meet their objectives.”
