Crestron opens Cobham headquarters

29 January 2009 9.00 BST

(UK) - Crestron opened the doors to its impressive Cobham headquarters last week and effectively demonstrated why it is the leader in HDMI and lighting control technologies.

Showcasing its eagerly anticipated and ground breaking DigitalMedia system and the unique 17th edition compliant DIN Rail lighting solution; the company was able to show that the future is indeed bright with Crestron!

The three day event was used as a platform to launch a number of significant firsts, most notably DigitalMedia; the first complete HD AV distribution system that allows virtually any mix of AV sources to be distributed throughout the home from a centralised rack location.  Crestron also showed how it is the first lighting control manufacturer to deliver a 17th Edition compliant lighting control solution for the UK market with its exclusive DIN Rail solutions.

Speaking at the event, Crestron UK Managing Director Robin van Meeuwen said “We are extremely proud and excited about our 17th edition compliant DIN Rail range and ground-breaking DigitalMedia, and we are delighted to be able to showcase these innovations here today. From the feedback we have received already, our customers are very pleased that we have launched these products and I predict they are going to be massively popular. Products such as these are designed with our dealers in mind and demonstrate our ongoing commitment to supporting them by offering real solutions to the challenges they face.  Our industry is strong and the future looks bright, products such as these will ensure that we continue to lead the way.”

Whilst the 17th Edition is demanding in its requirements, Crestron dealers at the event were reassured that the new DIN Rail solutions feature 16 circuits with input breakers and output RCCBO (necessary for 17th Edition compliance) and are pre-built and shipped as a totally integrated unit featuring processor, adaptive modules and all input and output protection. In addition to this, the system will also report to a Crestron touch screen the energy consumption (in kilowatt hours) that the lighting system currently using.

Visitors also learnt how the impressive DigitalMedia system distributes uncompressed digital audio and video signals over a choice of CAT5e/6-based copper wiring or a single multimode fibre cable. A full selection of switcher input cards, wall plate transmitters, and room controllers provides extensive connectivity throughout the home, supporting a complete range of analog and digital signal types all through one switcher - another industry first!
