Ceravision and Dipolar form global alliance

(UK and Sweden) - The plasma lamp technology developed by UK lighting company Ceravision has been further enhanced through a joint development programme with Swedish microwave engineering firm Dipolar AB.

The collaboration has produced a power supply that is ultra-efficient, very cost-effective and allows the use of magnetron technology with greatly increased lifetimes of at least 40,000 hours.
Walter Ronnblom, founder and Chief Executive of Dipolar AB, says: “Our proprietary technology has many advantages over existing approaches in terms of both cost and performance.  Field trials have exceeded our expectations and the technology is now ready for market.”
The development programme with Dipolar began in the summer of 2008 and the first products for the lighting system were delivered to Ceravision’s facility in early 2009.
Walter Ronnblom comments: “We have over 25 years of experience in the field of electrodeless, RF-driven lighting technology. I believe Ceravision has solved the outstanding problems that have historically hindered this technology and continue to hinder alternative approaches to this technology.  As a result of Ceravision’s completely new way of producing light, we are delighted to have signed an agreement allowing Ceravision exclusive access to our proprietary power supply technology on a global basis.”
For many years lighting companies have tried and failed to perfect this technology, experiencing poor performance and prohibitive costs.  Tim Reynolds, CEO of Ceravision, adds: “The benefits of our joint development programme cannot be underestimated.  Having proved the Dipolar technology over recent months, we are now preparing to release the plasma lamp system to the global market.  The exceptionally positive response we have had from lighting companies around the world, even before launching the technology, means these are very exciting times for Ceravision.”
