DIAL Celebrates 25th Anniversary

4 December, 2014, 16:00 GMT

(Germany) - Dial celebrates 25 years with anniversary party and over 300 guests.

The evening began with six Pecha Kucha talks, focusing on the future of architecture, lighting and automation.

Kay Pawlik, Managing Director of ERCO and Chairman of the Association of Shareholders of DIAL, presented guests with an overview of origins and milestones within DIAL's 25-year history, including development of the light planning software DIALux and the reputation acquired in the field of KNX technology.

Following Pawlik, Dietmar Half, Architecture + Technology, DIAL, gave a prognosis of architecture in the future, considering the origin of the term architecture and a prognosis from the perspective of both natural and cultural sciences. Half concluded: "Architecture of the future will be more complex, flooded with light and intelligently networked."

Andreas Bossow, Assistant Managing Director and Head of Building Technology at DIAL, then explained the risks and opportunities of so-called smart buildings. He urged: "We cannot escape from digitalisation but we can learn how to use it correctly."

Jürgen Spitz, Team Leader Light, DIAL, then presented his vision of the future uses of artificial light, which sees each person with their own virtual light provided via spectacles or contact lenses; real luminaires will become superfluous. The task of lighting specialists will be to focus primarily on a person's needs and not on technology.

As an external speaker, Dr Dieter Kunz from Berlin, Senior Phsician for Sleep Medicine and Chronomedicine at St. Hedwig's Hospital in Berlin and Managing Partner of Intellux, demonstrated the importance of light for health in light design.

Finally, Dieter Polle, Managing Director DIAL, presented his vision of the photorealistic simulation of light and architecture, which will take place in the virtual world only. All planning steps will be visualised with the aid of virtual reality spectacles and additionally there will be global networking of planners and designers.
