Carbon Trust Standard underlines Cooper Lighting and Safety’s commitment to the environment

(UK) - Cooper Lighting and Safety, under the umbrella of Cooper Industries (UK) Ltd, has had its commitment to a low-carbon future recognised with the award of the Carbon Trust Standard.

Covering all Cooper Industries operations in the UK, the accreditation was achieved by measuring, managing and reducing carbon emissions.

The Carbon Trust Standard recognises organisations for real carbon reduction. Based on a rigorous, independent assessment, it certifies that organisations have measured, managed and reduced their carbon emissions across their own operations and are committed to reducing them year on year.

Specific measures introduced at Cooper Industries operations in the UK include improvement of the thermal efficiency of buildings, installation of lighting control systems, and the successful deployment of an energy ‘kaizen’ programme aimed at achieving continuous improvement in energy utilisation.

John Robb, Marketing Director at Cooper Lighting and Safety, said: “We are delighted with the award of the Carbon Trust Standard – first and foremost because it demonstrates that we are genuinely concerned about the environment and serious about reducing our carbon footprint. Cooper Industries (UK) Ltd is committed to reducing its carbon emissions still further in the future and is already implementing additional steps such as shop-floor energy utilisation campaigns, installation of smart metering and additional investment in energy-efficient technology and systems.
