Zumtobel’s Arcos range provides a versatile and professional spotlight system for museums, galleries and exhibitions.

A comprehensive range of effects and attachments give designers the opportunity to create the perfect setting for any type of exhibit.

Zumtobel has worked with David Chipperfield Architects to create a minimalist design that features a pure cylindrical body intersected by a discreet cube shaped insert for the control circuitry. This ensures that all the attention is on the exhibits rather than the lighting.

The Arcos range includes luminaires in standard spot, superspot, flood and wide flood variants – providing the versatility to accentuate the smallest details or provide a homogenous lighting field for complete wall surfaces and large pictures.

This flexibility is further enhanced by a range of accessories, including projection and wall-washer attachments, allowing designers to create precise themes and messages – emphasising and highlighting the finest material and colour details. Two further types of attachment accessories are available which take a wide range of lenses and filters.

A short attachment ring can accommodate up to three filters or lenses, while a long attachment ring can take up to four filters or lenses and a cross louvre preventing glare. Filters can be used to adjust colour temperature, accent features of exhibits or as protection from IR and UVA radiation.

The attachments incorporate an automatic locking device so that the position of orientation sensitive accessories, such as the oval lens, is maintained when the lamp or reflector is changed.

The Arcos luminaires are fully dimmable. Each unit can be individually adjusted from the control panel on the back of the housing or can be controlled electronically using Zumtobel’s DALI interface. The position of the luminaire can be adjusted and locked using a simple allen key, so too can the focal length.

The four sizes of luminaire that form the basis of the adaptable Arcos system are the Arcos 1 80mm diameter spotlight for use with low ceiling heights, the Arcos compact 100mm spotlight for lower wattages, the Arcos 3 high performance 120mm luminaire and the Arcos 4 140mm spotlight, which gives maximum light output for large and high exhibition spaces.

All the luminaires are available in a choice of white or anthracite finish, and thanks to the ‘Cool Touch’ thermal management can be safely handled and positioned, even during long periods of operation.
